Stef and his team at SP1 have filled in the gaps of IT knowledge and expertise which we were struggling to fulfil within our roles. They have ensured that we have the right hardware and systems in place to enable our team to work efficiently. Stef and his team at SP1 have been paramount in ensuring we have the systems and strategic input to allow us to evolve whilst equipping our team with the day-to-day IT support to keep things running smoothly. Each year SP1 write up a strategic IT plan that forecasts the key areas for development in alignment with the overarching firm goals. In recent years this has included SP1 supporting tendering applications to secure funding for equipment to enable virtualisation in an effort to support our plans for a more sustainable practice. From the beginning SP1 have supported our initiatives by providing a service that we trust to get the job done efficiently and professionally.

Tim provided strategic direction and added real business value to the firm as Head of IT. His ability to bring clarity to the board in regard to all areas of IT meant we had faith that Tim and his team could deliver both service and projects in a cost effective and timely manner. Always took the time to understand the business issues so that IT was able to deliver to the firms’ overall objectives. Delivered a major upgrade to our financial system and implemented a new case and matter management system, all on time and in budget. Overall took our IT team and strategic abilities to the level that I was looking for, pleasure to work with and a real senior leader & team player.

As a senior leader in the firm, Tim was required to build and nurture relationships with board members, the partnership and staff at all levels to ensure that the IT Strategy was set and that IT services and projects were delivered successfully. Tim is a real people person with an engaging and friendly style, he always worked hard to ensure that expectations were set out, that communication flowed both ways and that problems were quickly resolved. As Head of IT Tim was always willing to debate issues and ideas with his peers in the management team to ensure that the firms strategic and operational objectives were met and new opportunities considered.

With a significant business transformation project underway Tim had provided me with some real insight as to how we might successfully tackle a number of strategic issues, particularly in relation to our new finance & practice management system. Always willing to share his experience and offer advice, I do not hesitate to run issues past him if I feel I need direction or clarification. Open and engaging with real depth of experience when it comes to both system and people issues within a professional services environment.

As part of the firm’s IT strategy, I have been responsible for the implementation of a new finance & practise management system, 3E, and most recently a new document management system, iManage. On both occasions, I have discussed the merits and risks of rolling out these systems with Tim and found him to not only be knowledgeable of the systems themselves but also able to take a wider view of solutions in the legal marketplace as opposed to just giving his recommendation of those particular products and services. On each occasion that both myself and my IT colleagues met with Tim we felt that there was a real sense of authority and honesty around the discussion.
