Susgen
SP1 Success Story with Susgen Next Generation Energy
Project Overview
Susgen – a market leader in sustainable energy development – partnered with SP1 to achieve better integration, efficiency, and security of their IT systems. SP1 delivered beyond expectations, successfully migrating Susgen’s critical data while implementing robust cyber security measures. SP1 founder, Stefano Pratesi, helped to alleviate Susgen’s concerns through transparent communication and facts. The data migration was executed seamlessly and hailed a “BIG SUCCESS”.
SP1 IT support also extends beyond major projects. Quick response to help desk and email inquiries, smooth day-to-day operations, and proactive management of necessary tasks provide Susgen with the confidence that their IT is in safe hands.
Their Challenge
Prior to working with SP1 IT Solutions, Susgen had been using the cloud-based solution, Dropbox, for their data storage and file sharing. It was not only being used for the Susgen data storage, but also for the team’s personal work files, and the investor platforms. This meant that there was a huge amount of critical data being stored. So any consideration to migrate the data to another solution carried considerable risk.
The value of this data had also made Susgen leadership extremely wary of cyber threats. Their focus was set on achieving the highest possible level of cyber security, to ensure their brand protection and investor confidence.
Susgen Operations Director, Duncan Warrick explained how one of their biggest fears was cyber-attacks via email. Knowing that this was a common source of threat, particularly for organisations with so much valuable data. This triggered the need for a full inspection and improved cyber security strategy.

Our Solution
On the first call with SP1, founder Stefano Pratesi took Susgen through everything “from the ground up” – Data storage solutions, potential cyber threats, cyber security solutions, pros and cons, costs and timelines.
Following an initial cyber security audit, it was agreed that the project would be done in phases. Starting with the data migration from Dropbox to SharePoint, to move to an aligned set of systems within Microsoft 365. This would deliver enhanced data security, secure cloud back-ups and less maintenance. As well as saving time and money due to making use of existing licenses.
Following this, the second phase of enhanced cyber security measures would be done.
Duncan Warrick expressed his nervousness surrounding the size and risk of the data migration. Talks with Stefano quickly “took the nerves out of everything” – “SP1 gave me the complete facts and reassurance that nothing would be lost. They calmed the nerves and were totally unphased”.
Not only did Stefano reassure Susgen leadership, but he also talked with their stakeholders. To answer their questions and alleviate their concerns, as well as taking them through how the migration was to be done, and most importantly, done safely.
When the migration was completed, it was hailed as a “BIG SUCCESS”. Everything went to plan, and within the projected time frame.
Similarly, Susgen’s new robust cyber security strategy was executed seamlessly, with each project milestone being delivered on time.
Duncan was keen to share that although these two IT projects carried significant value to Susgen, it was also the day-to-day IT support that SP1 provides that has been equally as important to them.
Key benefits include:
- Help desk and email responses – “SP1 is always quick to respond”
- Smooth running operations – “If any issues arise, it is as simple as raising a support ticket, which is promptly responded to and resolved.”
- Reassurance that SP1 is managing the necessary tasks – “A lot of things are done behind the scenes and then we just receive an email explaining what has been done”.
- Confidence knowing that SP1 is safeguarding Susgen IT – “It’s all about brand protection and trust”.
